Also, free bank accounts may be provided to some users for advertising purposes.


How to open a bank account with Shetewy Pay

If you want to open an international bank account at any of the banks listed in Shetewy Pay's banking protocol, you can create a request regarding this within minutes directly from your account. However, it is important to understand the information needed to complete your application and ensure that you accept the account you choose and its bank. Some countries / regions require you to be a certified Shetewy Pay customer before accessing the Shetewy Pay Banking protocol.

This type of transaction requires you to visit the nearest embassy or consulate of the country of the bank you have chosen, and to follow Shetewy Pay's instructions to officially activate your account from the embassy / consulate near your location.


What documents do I need to open a bank account?

Before you can open a bank account via Shetewy Pay's banking protocol, you will need to present a set of documents. The reason behind the bank requesting this information is to help identify new clients, conduct the necessary security checks, and ensure that your account is opened accurately. We have included the information required to open a bank account below. Please note that this may vary between service providers.

Banks will need to do identification and verification checks. We help them in this by sharing all of your identification documents, your account record, and all records of your entire transactions. Read more about this through the Shetewy Pay Services Usage Policy.

  • Identity proof - Passport
  • Personal details - surname, full name, date of birth, gender, marital status, nationality
  • Address details - your current home address and how long you have lived
  • Contact details - preferred phone number, email address, and marketing preferences
  • Income and Expense Details - Your total monthly income, employment status and your total savings amount


How long does it take to open an account abroad?

Your request is subject to security verification by the selected bank, review, approval or rejection, this process may take from 7 to 10 working days. If approved, you will receive a notification from your account to complete the application process, please wait for 7 business days or less to obtain the login information for your account, and a period of 21 days or less to obtain the bank debit cards for your account and SIM card, or you will be able to receive that within a period of time 4 days only if your account is Prime.


Service Fees

Shetewy Pay does not deduct any value from your account until it is confirmed that you obtain security approval from the bank of your choice. The security approval of the bank is a notification that the request to open your bank account has been approved and thus the transaction is passed without any issues. However, the bank is free to reject your account at any stage of account creation. Shetewy Pay guarantees that you will recover any funds deducted from your account related to this process, in case the creation of your account fails due to the bank of your choice. Can commercial bank accounts be opened?

This type of transaction requires you to visit the nearest embassy or consulate of the country of the bank you have chosen, and to follow Shetewy Pay's instructions to officially activate your account from the embassy / consulate near your location.


What happens when your bank account is opened?

Once your bank account is opened, Shetewy Pay will send you a welcome pack. The welcome pack will contain your account details, copies of the terms and conditions and helpful advice on how to get the most out of your new bank account. After that, we will coordinate your receipt of your new bank card, PIN and SIM card for your account, separately and through secure delivery services.


How can you fund your account?

When you open a bank account via Shetewy Pay's banking protocol, you may be able to fund by check or wire transfer just like any regular bank transfer. And if your chosen bank has local branches, you can also visit one of these branches for direct cash deposit. Or, you can fund your bank account through your Shetewy Pay account through more than 17 electronic and non-electronic top-up methods. It usually takes a few days or less to process funds.


Close your bank account

If you are looking to close your bank account, the steps to do so may differ between different bank service providers. Some banks may expect you to visit the branch to return bank cards, check books, and any other materials related to your account. You will need to ensure that you have paid any required values in your account, as well as transfer any balance in your account to a new account. It is best to contact your bank to let them know that you are considering closing your account so that they can talk to you about necessary next steps.
